First Chakra

At the base of the pelvis, this is the energetic gateway between the earth and the body. The 1st Chakra Rhythm is a dance of declaring the right to be and the right to have. It is an open limbed, round dance. It is the dance of receiving what we need to live well. This rhythm is rooted gravity, physicality and earth.

Second Chakra

Just below the navel, this is the center of pleasure. The 2nd chakra Rhythm is the dance of pleasure, beauty, grace, ease and softness. The dance is languid, voluptuous and yielding. This dance explores and celebrates pleasure as an expression of self.

Third Chakra

At the solar plexus, here lives the power to create in the physical world. The 3rd Chakra Rhythm is strong, sharp, focused. Movements are clear, precise, angular, masculine and combust outward with dynamic expression. This is the dance of birthing into the physical world our dreams, desires and hopes. It is the dance of the sun, of fire, of combustion, of creation.

Fourth Chakra

At the heart, this is the location of the creative forces of the universe. The 4th Chakra Rhythm is a dance of love and surrender. This dance brings our loving witness to all the places we keep ourselves small, unworthy and incapable. This is the dance of abandon, of witnessing, of release.

Fifth Chakra

At the throat, this is the center of communication. The 5th Chakra Rhythm is the dance of playfulness, joy, open hearted laughter and community. Here we dance with each other swinging, skipping, jumping and stomping in the expression of our connection to the world around us. Here our dance is a vibration, a voice, that gives and receives, celebrates and honors self and other.

Sixth Chakra

At the third eye, this is the chakra of wisdom and intuition. The 6th Chakra Rhythm is the dance of remembering that we are only human in relation to each other. The self and other become one. It is here that we both visualize and create community as we dance in playful abandon with each other.

Seventh Chakra

At the top of the head, this is the chakra of communion. The 7th Chakra Rhythm is the dance of consciousness, the meeting place of the temporal and the timeless, the finite and the infinite. Here we dance to explore, honor and rest in the place of the witness. This is the meeting place of the divine within us. This dance is personal and universal. There are no instructions here, no rules.
